From Security to AI
For over a decade, I've worked in cybersecurity: most recently as a Solutions Architect at ReversingLabs, focusing on reverse engineering and software supply chain. I've spent years helping organizations across the Department of War defend against threats while building expertise in the technical architecture that keeps systems secure.
The AI explosion in the past couple of years has been insane! AI stopped being a distant concept and became an ever-present force in every conversation, every product roadmap, every threat model. In security, we're seeing AI on both sides of the battlefield powering sophisticated attacks and enabling smarter defenses. I realized that understanding AI wasn't optional anymore; it was essential.
Learning by Building
I've always believed the best way to learn something is to build with it. So rather than just reading papers and taking courses, I decided to get my hands dirty. My first real project was PourGuide - a wine discovery app that uses conversational AI and image recognition to help people track their preferences without needing to speak like a sommelier. This was a project which allowed me to learn about AI while focusin on my other passion: wine!
Building PourGuide taught me more than any tutorial could. I learned how to work with LLMs, implement vision models for label recognition, design prompts that safe-guarded the users, kept cost low, and shipped something real that people can use. It was my introduction to what some call "vibe coding" - working alongside AI tools to move faster than I ever could alone.
Why This Site Exists
This site is my public lab notebook. I'm building it to document what I learn, share projects as I complete them, and track my progress in AI and machine learning. It's a space for experimentation, learning, and building things that interest me.
Here's what you can expect to find:
- Project deep-dives: Technical breakdowns of what I'm building and how
- Learning notes: Key concepts I'm studying, explained in my own words
- Experiments: Smaller explorations and proof-of-concepts
- Security + AI: Where my background and new interests intersect
What's Next
I'm currently exploring several areas: fine-tuning models for specific use cases, building AI agents that can handle multi-step tasks, and understanding the security implications of deploying LLMs in production. I'll be writing about all of it here.
If you're on a similar learning journey, feel free to reach out via LinkedIn.
Thanks for stopping by. Let's build something interesting.
